Thomas Magnanti is a former dean of the School of Engineering who holds degrees in chemical engineering, statistics, mathematics, and operations research. In addition to pioneering an educational philosophy that combines engineering and management, Professor Magnanti’s research focus is the theory and application of large-scale optimization in network flows, nonlinear programming, and combinatorial optimization.
