Richard K. Lester is the Japan Steel Industry professor and head of the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE), where he is also the faculty cochair and founding director of the Industrial Performance Center, an Institute-wide research unit based in the School of Engineering. He is currently leading the Energy Innovation Project, a major MIT study of strategies for upgrading the US energy innovation system. Harvard University Press published Professor Lester’s most recent book in 2005 on the sources of creativity and innovation in advanced economies, Innovation – The Missing Dimension (coauthored with Michael J. Piore).
