President Carlos Salinas de Gortari gives the 127th MIT Commencement Address

Dr. Carlos Salinas de Gortari, Constitutional President of the United Mexican States, gives the 1993 MIT Commencement Address on May 28, 1993. Dr. Salinas reflects on recent world events and the increase in global insecurity over the course of the past four years since the Class of 1993 arrived at MIT. He outlines the progress made in Mexico over the past decade, and observes that the experience of positive change in Mexico could shed light on the enormous capacity of transformation within each graduating student. He encourages the new graduates to tackle the future with the same international character that MIT has always shown.
